Property values are affected by many factors, one of which is proximity to high culture experiences. Residents of Downtown West Palm Beach are fortunate to be treated to a surprising number of interesting art exhibitions. For example, this month, downtown owners and renters are a walk away from a beautiful and unique free photography exhibit by physicist turned artist Graham Flint.
Graham Flint Portrait of America: Images from the Gigapxl™ Project are on display at 101 South Flagler Drive on the West Palm Beach Waterfront. While your typical consumer digital camera produces photos measured in megapixels, Flint is the inventor of a new camera technology with high-resolution photographs measured in gigapixels. The results are gorgeous, amazingly detailed photographs that span 10x20 feet in size.
Not only are the photos incredibly large, but they are sharper than any photograph you have ever seen. The subjects range from the Grand Canyon to the New York City skyline to California's Big Sur ocean coastline to the Mount St. Helens volcano. When prospective buyers think of downtown West Palm Beach they probably don't think of cutting-edge art and photography, but it's all here and within walking distance from your luxury downtown apartment.
The camera itself is a marvel. Flint created the powerful camera from salvaged parts of Cold War era spy planes such as the U-2. The camera weighs an astonishing 100 pounds.
To accomplish such breath-taking photos, Flint must measure the distance to the objects with a laser range finder and he calculates his lens adjustments based on a set of algorithms. The images are then scanned by the same technology used by NASA for space imaging.
Downtown residents are afforded this amazing experience with a pleasant walk to Lake Pavilion on the waterfront. When purchasing a condo in downtown West Palm Beach you get so much more than sun and sand. You are also welcomed to fascinating artistic exhibitions right outside your door.
James Scuttina, Owner and Broker of Scuttina Real Estate Group remarks, "These types of art exhibitions are the secret jewel in the crown of downtown West Palm Beach living. Everyone knows about the convenience factor with regards to shopping and entertainment but you also have easy access to the Norton Museum of Art, the Palm Beach Opera, and outstanding free art exhibitions located right on the waterfront."
