The Historical Society of Palm Beach County is Yet Another Cultural Enhancement to Downtown West Palm Beach

A 15 minute walk from your luxury residence in Two City Plaza or a 10 minute walk from the magnificent 610 Clematis, you will discover the spectacular neo-classical architecture of the Historic 1916 Palm Beach County Courthouse. Inside this completely restored landmark is the home of the Historical Society of West Palm Beach.

The Society hosts interesting lectures by special guests throughout the year. This season you are invited to hear a number of thought-provoking speeches.

Executive Director of the Flagler Museum, John Blades, will give a speech that provides you with new insight into the Panama Canal and the importance of Florida's technological breakthrough, the Over-Sea Railroad.

Attorney and author William G. Hyland, Jr. will present the case that he feels disproves the story that Thomas Jefferson fathered children with one of his slaves.

Dr. David Bradley will explain his role in creating the first ever personal computer for IBM.

Successful author of 11 books, native Floridian Eliot Kleinberg will discuss Florida's role in World War II. He will bring to life the realities of German prisoner-of-war camps, deadly accidents, and U-Boat sinkings that happened not in Europe, but right here off the coast of Florida.

For those curious about the world outside their door, The Historical Society of Palm Beach offers free guided tours of downtown West Palm Beach that illuminate the city's growth and changes. Architect Rick Gonzalez will be your expert guide to local history. You won’t have to go far to time-travel as the Society is just a six minute walk from your downtown residence in The Whitney.

"When I tell my clients that they can 'have it all' living in downtown West Palm Beach, what I mean is, you have easy access to the well-known nightlife, shopping and restaurants but you are also surrounded by cultural opportunities like The Historical Society", remarks James Scuttina, Owner and Broker of Scuttina Real Estate Group. "I can't think of too many places where you have beautiful weather, clean beaches, a vibrant downtown nightlife, as well as significant cultural events like those available in downtown West Palm Beach."

Whether you enjoy the lectures, the tours, or a free visit to peruse the archives of the Society's Johnson History Museum, you will benefit from being so close to an important cultural organization. Living in downtown West Palm Beach puts you in the center of the Opera, the Library, the Historical Society, the Norton Museum and Waterfront Art Exhibits.
